If you have not read it yet, please start with Create reports tutorial in order to create report template

In this section we will explain how to use saved reports, and visualize data based on charts or table view.

We recommend first, to build a report in a Table view and then the most suitable chart type for the representation of your data. You may read in the blog post how to pick the right chart type.

For version 1.0 available representations are:

  • Stacked Chart
  • Gantt Chart
  • Planning Chart
  • Pie chart

On this page you will read more about:

  • Stacked Bar Chart

A stacked bar chart is a variant of the bar chart. A standard bar chart compares individual data points with each other. In a stacked bar chart, parts of the data are adjacent (in the case of horizontal bars) or stacked (in the case of vertical bars, aka columns); each bar displays a total amount, broken down into sub-amounts.

Stacked Chart

In the previous chart, we created a report to represent number of worked hours for JIRA Projects based on users.

We choose to represent this report in a stacked bar chart where we represent total hours logged by users on select JIRA Projects.

Please note that in a matter of readability, a maximum of 6 entries can be selected in columns (in the previous graphics corresponding to projects)

In the 6 possible options you can select and deleselect elements from all available options.

No limitation is set in the rows (in the previous graphics corresponding to users)

(question) Equivalent row variables (example: same user) are the set to the same color in each bar. This formatting makes it easy to compare both the whole picture and the components of each bar.

  • Gantt Chart

The Gantt chart is one of the most popular scheduling tools in project management. It’s a horizontal bar chart that shows progress on a project schedule.

Tasks are arrayed on the vertical axis while the horizontal axis represents time. Tasks may be rolled up into summary elements, which constitutes a number of subtasks and represents a phase of project work.

Gantt charts are typically used to display schedules or other time-based activities.

Gantt Chart

In the previous chart, we created a report to represent number of worked hours for JIRA Projects displayed based on time frame.

(warning) Please note that Gantt chart is only available if created template is using time frame criteria on vertical axe.  For the moment (version 1.0.0) you can enable only month grouping for time framing, we are planning to release week and year grouping for next version.

Select projects on rows and in columns select at least one date range to filter based on start date and end date of your tasks

(lightbulb)The most obvious and wide use for GANTT chart is to show users or team worklogs on tasks as well as relationships between those tasks.

Inline editing and a drag & drop interface allow you to edit your chart quickly and easily.

  • Planning Chart

Planning chart is a gantt chart with on selected dimension on X axis.

Planning Chart

In the previous chart, we break down work logs made by users on a single project over the months. As you may see there is a unique criteria (which is the project) to detail worklogs for based on an other criteria (users)

You can select here a unique option or criteria to get worklogs for. The row options are set to a total of 15 options.

  • Pie Chart

A pie chart is a circular chart divided into sectors, illustrating numerical proportion.

Select the Pie chart to illustrate the proportions of a whole composition. You can represent each proportion value as numbers and as a percentage of the whole.

Pie Chart

Pie chart uses one Dimension field for Sector and one Measure field for Data.

  • Customize Chart

You can customize the way dimensions are displayed in a chart. Choose Swap axes to swap dimension placement on X and Y axis.

  • Export to PNG, JPG, CSV and PDF.

Graphs can be downloaded to an output file based on one of the following formats:
