Feature difference - FAQ for Confluence Server vs Cloud

Migration process

  • Make sure that the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant (CCMA) is updated to its latest version before proceeding with the migration process.

  • Use the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant app to migrate everything you need from Confluence server to cloud. Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant explains in detail the step-by-step process to migrate the required content.

  • Select the spaces and the users that you want to migrate

  • With every migrated space the related FAQ will be migrated along with all its related data (terms, letters, metadata, etc)

  • Each migration has 2 major steps

1 - Migrate Confluence data (Spaces, pages, users)

2 - Migrate FAQ data (categories, questions, answers...)

That's it! A new space FAQ will be migrated.

Features and views differences

In Confluence Cloud, FAQ App is no more based on pages and macros. We are using a new menu provided by Atlassian and we create entities stored in space to list FAQs.

The below table detail the App platform differences.

Suggest questions

With the Data Center and server versions, users can suggest question to be added within the FAQ page.

The feature is yet to be available on Cloud, thus it would not be included in the migration.

Rate questions

When rating a question on Server and DC, users can leave a comment to be displayed at the bottom of the FAQ page.

On the cloud version, users can only up vote or down vote an answer. To comment, they might use the standard Confluence “Comment” feature.
